Local considers the oyster

Patrick McMurray, local resident and owner of the seafood restaurant Starfish with his wife Alison (100 Adelaide St. E. at Church), has written a book on the world of oysters.

He brings a wealth of information to the book "Consider the Oyster: A Shucker's Field Guide," covering the history of mankind's fondness of oysters, harvesting them and preparing them for eating.

Patrick, a world-champion shucker, fills us in on the best places to eat oysters worldwide, how to serve them and the vocabulary used to best discuss them.

With beautiful photography, refreshing recipes and great story telling, this book on oysters by the Danforth resident will demystify this mythical aphrodisiac.
